Discover its origins as a center for maritime activities and shipbuilding as well as a critical freight, passenger and auto ferry transportation hub. Hear about where Fleetwood Mac, Stevie Wonder and Mariah Carey and others recorded best-selling albums. Learn how Sausalito evolved into a diverse bohemian counterculture community of artists, writers and musicians, and became home to gamblers, smugglers, and a famous San Francisco madam elected as Sausalito’s first female mayor.

Effective in August 2024, docent-led tours are scheduled every 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month, starting at 11:30 AM. The tour meets at the Sausalito Historical Society’s Ice House Museum, at Bridgeway and Bay Street, conveniently located near the ferry landing.
